#WIFE: Encouragement For The Single Girl, From The Christmas Story

Encouragement-Single Girl- Christmas Story.jpeg

2018’s Christmas day has come and gone but here’s some encouragement from the Christmas story, to keep you going.

We know the story, how the angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her what God had said, that she was going to have baby Jesus… (Luke 1:26-38 CEV), but let’s see (and hopefully be encouraged) by how she responded in Luke 1:34 & 38 quoted below, respectively;

Mary asked the angel, “How can this happen? I am not married!”

Mary said, “I am the Lord’s servant! Let it happen as you have said.”

Mary was single. Errm, no Sherie, she was engaged.

Errm, no sis, she was single, she even said it herself in verse 34 quoted above, she said, “I’m not married”.

Girl, if you are not married, you are single. Dating/Courting? Single. Engaged? Single.

Mary was single at the time she was told she was going to have Jesus and the only time she brought it up, the only time she brought up her singleness in her conversation with angel Gabriel, was when she was told the nature of what God wanted her to do. Perhaps, she thought, how could she have a baby, when she wasn’t married, won’t she have to have sex to have a baby and sex has to be in the context of marriage, with her husband? (Oh Mary, fine girl with sense.)

That was the only time she brought it up and when the angel told her that God’s got it all worked out because you see, “nothing is impossible for God” (Luke 1:37), she was like, alright, I’m God’s servant, let His will be done.

Hmm. I wonder, if she had insisted that she wasn’t married and hence didn’t or couldn’t fit God’s plan, would she be the one we know as Jesus’ mother today?

Will she be the one would be asking, ” Mary, did you know that your baby boy…?” (Meanwhile guys, considering that we’ve sang that song for years now, I guess Mary knows by now, so… Lol…)

What I’m trying to make you see here sis, is this;

You don’t have to be married to have a purpose.

You don’t have to be married to be part of God’s plan.

You don’t have to be married to fulfill/reach purpose.

You don’t have to be married to do all the great things God’s got lined up for you to do.

You don’t have to be married for God to use you.

Come on, girl!

It’s interesting that we celebrate Jesus’ birth, just before a new year, that to me is like another reminder, that He came to make things new, to give us life, to give us so many second chances, to start over, where necessary.

Sweet girl, will you do like Mary and say, God, I’m your daughter, your servant, let your will be done in my life whether single or married, help me surrender to your plans, help me not to put/to stop putting my life on hold because I’m single, help me to live, to be a blessing to others, for your glory?

You don’t have to wait till January 1st to this, you can decide now and continue.

I know it can be hard, I know we have our good, bad and just ugly days but you are not alone, you’ve got help. Angel Gabriel may not be there telling you not to be afraid, but God’s word tell us that repeatedly, to not fear, it tells us that He’s with us, that we are not alone, we are not without help, we’ve got His Holy Spirit, it tells us that God is faithful.

You are so loved girl, Jesus came for you.

Don’t let the wait make you doubt your worth.

You’ve got God and He’s got you, you will be fine.

The year may be ending without you having some things you thought you’d have by now but I pray it won’t end without you and you will see the goodness of God in the land of the living, in Jesus name, Amen.

Trust that what you didn’t get this year, you weren’t supposed to get this year and see it this way, now, you are a year closer… perhaps, even a day.

Thank you for being our friend here, we love and appreciate you so much and we are excited for all the wonderful things that God has in store for you. ❤

Happy New Year In Advance!

Be encouraged.

PS: A man like Joseph, Mary’s boo, is the kind of man you want to settle for, a man who submits to God, that kind of man is worth the wait.

#WIFE: Stay Hopeful

Scripture says “When everything was hopeless, Abraham believed anyway, deciding to live not on the basis of what he saw he couldn’t do but on what God said he would do. And so he was made father of a multitude of peoples… ” – Romans 4:18 MSG

There’s this scene from “Ice Age: Continental drift”, where after the continent splits, Manny, Diego & Sid, now separated from their family and friends were trying to make their way through the storm and at a point, Manny says, more like screams, “just keep your eyes on the horizon” and Diego screams back, “I can’t find the horizon”, lol, funny not funny.

Ice Age
Diego, Sid & Manny

Perhaps, you are in a storm of life, you know, and like Diego, you practically can’t find the horizon, there seems to be no way out, hold on to hope, trust God, He will do what He’s said He will do.

He says, “No one who hopes in Me ever regrets it.” (Isaiah 49:23MSG)

Stay hopeful.

Be encouraged.

#WIFE: A Love Note

love note.jpg

“I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!” – God (Jeremiah 31:3 MSG)

You are loved with an everlasting, unfailing love.

Rest in this love today, and when you are tempted to fear, the present, the future or even the past, choose to remember that you are loved, there’s no fear in love.

God loves you, He says to not fear, He’s got you.

Choose love, lose fear.

#WIFE: Keep On Believing

Keep on believing.jpg

I want to encourage you with the words of Jesus to Jarius when people came to tell him that his daughter had died.

The little girl, though critically ill, was apparently alive before he came to plead with Jesus to come heal her and whilst they were on their way to the house, there was a slight delay as they encountered the woman with issue of blood, it was while that was going on that people from the house came to tell Jairus, your daughter is dead, don’t bother Jesus now. Hmm. (Mark 5:21-35 paraphrased)

She was alive when he left, now she’s dead, that’s from bad to worse.

Isn’t death like the height of it? It seemed hopeless from then but not when Jesus is involved.

Mark 5:36 says;

Overhearing but ignoring what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing. (AMPC)

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. (KJV)

Jesus overheard what they were talking about and said to the leader, “Don’t listen to them; just trust me.” (MSG)

What are you saying Jesus? It’s over, she’s (its) dead, I messed up big time, I made a mistake, I’m too old now, I’m already born into this family, I already missed the opportunity, society says I should be married by so and so age  but I’m way passed that age now, they say if I’ve not done so and so by a certain age, then I’ve failed, there’s no way this or that can happen for me anymore, I don’t see a way, its hopeless now.

Well, Jesus says, be not afraid, keep on believing, just trust me.

Dear reader, whatever it is, that may be going in your life, looks dead, hopeless, people may even be saying, it’s over, it’s not going to happen…

I pray you choose to not be afraid, to not fear, to not listen to them, to keep looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith, it’s not over until He says so, He is the way so there’s always a way, just trust Him, keep on believing, “for nothing, you see, is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)

Is there something you’d like us to join you in prayers for, please leave a comment or send a mail to sherie.habeeb@gmail.com

It is well.

Be encouraged.

Happy Wednesday.

#WIFE: You don’t think you deserve a good man?

deserve a good man.jpg

Dear girl,

So you have a past, things you’ve done that you are not proud of, some of them don’t even add up, you can’t believe you did them, some you even made sure nobody heard of but, you’ve received the mercy and forgiveness of God and you are walking in newness of life, yet, sometimes you wonder, do I deserve a good man, will a good man want me, I’ve made such a mess in the past, I’ll be lucky to even have anyone, I’ll just settle for anyone, at least that’s better than nothing.

Okay sis, hold that thought, can I tell you something, girl with a past to girl with a past?

Jesus didn’t die on the cross , He didn’t shed His precious blood, give His life, for you to have anything less than what He wants you to have, if He could give you His life when you didn’t even know Him, in your sinful state, how much more now that you know and are committed to Him?

He says, “I came that they may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)” – John 10:10 AMPC, settling for less won’t give you that, you don’t have to settle girl.

Remember the story of the prodigal son, one of the lessons, for me, in that story is that, just because you’ve made a mess in the past doesn’t mean you have to settle for less, having returned to Jesus, there’s no room for less in Jesus.

When the prodigal son came back to his senses, he said I’ll go back to my father, I don’t mind being a servant, I’ll even ask him to make me one but when he got home what happened, simply put, He was reinstated. (Luke 15:11-32)

What about Abraham and Sarah, they went out of God’s will to get Ishmael but didn’t He still give them Isaac, the promise?

A friend of mine puts it this way, “when we return to God, in His mercies, he takes us back into His ARMS and PLANS”, you don’t have to settle for less, no mess you’ve made is bigger than the price Jesus paid, you may have blown it a few times but God can still blow your mind. Trust Him.

This is not to encourage sin, like, do what you like, God still got you, no.

For shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid.

It’s about now that you have repented and returned and about knowing that you are still family.

Do you deserve a good man?

Does any of us deserve anything good really? But for God’s mercy and grace.

It’s not about what you deserve, it’s about whose you are, who you serve.

“He who did not withhold or spare (even) His own son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously, give us all (other) things?” – Romans 8:32 AMPC

Jesus makes all the difference.

A man is good not because of what he has or hasn’t done but because of what Christ has done and a  man who is in Christ understands that he’s a recipient of grace, he’ll appreciate the work of God’s grace on your life and freely give you (grace) as he has received.

Trust that if God has marriage in His plans for you, then He has this kind of man reserved for you, one He has graced to love you unconditionally, past your past, as He loves you and intends for you to be loved. (Ephesians 5:25)

God did not save you for you to spend the rest of your life unhappy (because you settled).

Just like a good man, you are a ‘good thing’ girl not because of who you are or what you’ve done but because of who Jesus is and what He’s done.

Won’t a good man want a good thing? What’s not to want in the daughter of a King, who will bring him favor?

Rest in this girl, you have a good Father, who loves you, thinks good thoughts of you, has good plans for you, works all things out for your good, gives good gifts to His children not because they are good but because He is good, He’s got you.

Be encouraged.
